Chocolate Biscuit Fudge
Palha italiana is one of those classic treats that have been passed down through generations. Easy to make, using just a few ingredients, and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients:
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 package Maria biscuits (or plain tea biscuits)
Certano refined sugar, for coating
Instructions:
In a saucepan, combine the condensed milk, butter, and cocoa powder. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the bottom of the pan (brigadeiro consistency).
Break the biscuits into medium-sized pieces and gently fold them into the warm chocolate mixture.
Transfer the mixture to a pan lined with parchment paper, spreading it evenly. Let it cool completely.
Once set, cut into squares and roll each piece in refined sugar, finishing the palha italiana in the traditional way.
A simple recipe with great texture, rich flavor, and that classic touch that makes all the difference.
